Description
Provide compliance oversight to safeguard the Bank’s reputation and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements including promoting best practices and awareness of MAS laws and regulations (AML/CFT and non-AML related) across the Bank.
Act as the primary liaison with MAS, ABS and other regulators for clarifications on compliance matters, including Banking Act, MAS Notices, Guidelines and Circulars.
Review, update and implement compliance policies, guidelines and procedures to ensure alignment with evolving regulatory requirements.
Liaise with external auditors and regulators on queries, audits, inspections and licensing matters.
Work closely with business units to monitor compliance with new and existing regulations and provide timely advice on regulatory compliance issues.
Support compliance-related risk assessments, gap analyses and control evaluations to strengthen the bank’s compliance framework.
Provide secretariat support for governance committees (ie. Board, Risk etc) including pre-meeting logistics, agenda and minute preparation
Conduct customer due diligence (CDD) and enhanced due diligence (EDD) for new and existing customers.
Perform transaction monitoring, investigate suspicious activities, close false alerts and escalate cases for further review.
Ensure compliance with MAS AML/CFT requirements and the bank’s internal AML/KYC policies.
Design and deliver AML/CFT and compliance training programs for staff, including onboarding orientation for new joiners.
Prepare and present compliance reports to senior management and the Board, highlighting key risks, regulatory updates and remediation measures.
Participate in compliance-related projects, regulatory reviews, and new product assessments from a compliance perspective.
Requirement
Minimum 5–7 years of relevant compliance or risk & control experience in banking or financial services.
Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business or related discipline.
Strong understanding of MAS regulations, Banking Act, Securities and Futures Act (SFA), Financial Advisers Act (FAA), and other relevant legislation.
Professional certifications such as Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS), ICA Diploma in Compliance or equivalent are highly advantageous.
Hands-on experience in KYC/CDD, AML investigations, transaction monitoring, and preparation of Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs).
Strong English oral and written communication skills with proven ability to engage regulators and stakeholders.
Excellent interpersonal skills to manage relationships internally and externally.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with compliance monitoring tools and AML systems is preferred.
